RED DEER PHOTO TOUR
IN HIIUMAA ISLAND

First time this year in September I am offering you the opportunity to come with me on a Red deer photography experience to Hiiumaa island. The goal of the tour is to give you the experience what it feels like to spend time among these majestic animals and also photograph them in the middle of nature.

The idea came from the fact that I have been photographing Red deer in Hiiumaa for the last 6 years. The stories and experiences that I have taken home with me every year are so special that I wanted to give others also the opportunity to experience these special moments by themselves.

The photo tour is very limited and intended for only 2 PARTICIPANTS. Therefore, we have a greater opportunity to experience the real moments that Hiiumaa's nature is offering to us.

THE PHOTO TOUR TAKES PLACE ON THE
18-20th of SEPTEMBER
BEGINS: Gathering at 15:00 on the 18th in accommodation
ENDS: 12:00 on the 20th

TO WHO IS THIS TOUR INTENDED FOR?

The trip is intended for all those who would like to take part in photographing the Red deer or simply observing them and see how the whole process really looks like in nature. No, we don't just sit in a photo hide for 2 days. We move around in nature and in between we may end up in places that you would most likely never go to on your own. It is from places like this that I have had the sweetest experiences.

HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?

We go into nature two evenings and two early mornings. We travel from our accommodation to different locations by car. Then we leave the car behind to make minimal noise and continue on foot. In the evening, we usually start a few hours before sunset and wait until the Red deer stags start sending their first roars into the sky. This gives us information on where to find them and we act accordingly.

In the mornings, we move out when it is completely dark outside and begin to listen in the same way, where the Red deer roar and move. All that because when the sun starts to rise, we would already be in position to observe or photograph them. The mornings last as long as nature offers us experiences that we can enjoy through photographs or with our own eyes.

Daytime is free time. Since the days start early in the morning, daytime can be used for resting, enjoying the sea or just relaxing and chatting.
Throughout the trip, I will share my knowledge and experience with you that I have gained over 6 years of photographing the Red deer. I like to say about the whole process that we become a little bit like ninjas, trying to get close to the animals unnoticed and either simply observe or photograph their activities.
We will discuss all the detailed activities on site before going on the first evening trip.

ACTIVITY LEVEL:

Most of the time we move around the terrain by foot, and there may be moments where we have to jump over ditches or move through hip-deep grass and even through slightly wetter areas.

CLOTHING:

Darker (black, brown, green) tones work better and help you stay more unnoticed.
Waterproof hiking boots or rubber boots will come in handy.

GEAR:

If possible and available, you can use and try out some SIGMA lenses.

WHAT ELSE WE CAN SEE?

Since autumn is already starting to take shape at this time, in the mornings we may be greeted by fog covering various fields. When the monring light hits the landscape, it is a truly golden moment. In addition to deer, we may also see roe deer, elk, and foxes.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

It is important to understand that when we wander around in nature, we do not control nature.
In this regard, nothing is guaranteed in nature. However, it has never happened in a year that I came home from a Red deer photography trip from Hiiumaa completely empty-handed. :)
